Dog walk

Another walk with Chili doggie! We ran into a herd of dogs. This gal rescues and cares for them. The little bull terrier has cancer and is getting chemotherapy, but still smiling. I think there is a lesson there to be learned. Of course the mountains were beautiful as ever. Oh and the snow is disappearing fast.

Sunset in Washoe Valley

There are times when beauty in nature begs to be captured. On my walk this evening I witnessed natures moment. I do believe my dog Chili feels the same.

Chili Doggie

Chili is an Australian Shepherd Queensland mix. We got him when he was a new puppy at my request. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Aussie Doggies need lots and lots of attention and are constantly needing something to do, that is, something to do with you. We have taught him to get his dish, find his frisbee, to sit, shake hands, high and low five, delayed fetch on the count of three and of course to roll over. The only thing we have not been able to teach him is to calm down. He insists on being the center of attention.

He loves his walks, he chases the rabbits squirrels and birds and recently he went head to head with a skunk. We all lost that battle. We googled how to get rid of the stench and we found one that really works. By the way the whole tomato juice thing is a myth.

Take 1/4 cup baking soda to every quart of hydrogen peroxide and a little dish soap or baby shampoo for suds. Work it into the hair thoroughly and then rinse with warm water. You might have to do this 2-3 times.

That's Slide Mountain and Washoe Lake located just North of Reno, Nevada.

App Post

Just downloaded the Blogger App so I'm testing it out. Using Twitter and Facebook are my addictions and so why not add more to my iPhone time with a blog. I am consumed just trying to keep up. My photography and my painting gives me a nice break from the maddening world of politics and news.

The images here are taken in Washoe Valley, Nevada. Lots of horses, lots of sagebrush. Each morning standing on the front porch with coffee in hand, Slide Mountain greets me with all it's grandeur.
